We have walls!!

Framers busted this out yesterday! At 11am there were no upright walls and by 4:30 half of the exterior walls were framed

Not sure if they will work today since it's a holiday weekend, but it'd be great to see the exterior fully framed going into next week. :)

Sub Floor & the beginning of framing!

Saw this beauty hopping around as we headed up our driveway (in our current place)

This is the framing that was layed down ready to go up on our master bedroom north wall. The large space is going to be our huge picture window with a sliding window on each end!

This was taken the night before the sub floor went in..insulation and rough in plumbing. This corner is our master bathroom

Floor Joists

The floor joists went in yesterday and today will hopefully be the subfloor..I am anticipating at least 1 or 2 sides of the house to be framed by the weekend..of course, it is a holiday weekend, so we'll see. :) Here are some pics we took last night checking out the days' work.

Cement!

It is official..there is a new house in the neighborhood! Concrete was poured into our foundation forms this morning. Hopefully that means that framing will start soon. Jason gets home tonight after being gone all week, so this will be a great sight for him. When he left, the home site was just flat dirt. Now it definitely looks like a home..or at least the beginnings of one. :) I plan to head up to the lot later tonight and actually walk through the home..I am so glad we are building in this town..we love it here!

Foundation Forms!

Here is a photo of our foundation forms being set. Hard to believe that we have the beginning of a house now! The footprint looks so small right now (of course, I was watching from about 200 feet away) but we were told it would look small during this stage, then big when the walls are framed, then just right when it's all done. At the back of the house where the yellow loader is sitting is where our dining room sticks out the back. We will have a patio to the right of the dining room and where the pile of lumber sits is where our front porch and door goes. The rear left corner is our master bedroom. Where the guy in front is squatting is our laundry room coming in off the garage and our master bath is to the left of him.

We make Dirt look good!

Excavation has begun! This morning the machines showed up and by 10am when I drove up they had already pushed down the gravel to form a mini road and were starting to level the land. This loader (i'm sure it has a much fancier name!) was pretty awesome..it could push or pull dirt and handles better than my minivan. There was also a roller to pack the dirt down. The big challenge will be keeping the flying dirt to a minimum. They had a firehose attached to the hydrant and were constantly spraying the dirt to keep it moist. Once our temporary water is set up I'll have to turn sprinklers on to keep it wet. We should have permits in next week, but until then our builder will finish this up and start foundation forms. Can't pour concrete until those permits are in, but we can get ready right up to it. This was such a perfect day to start digging..I love how blue the river is and how pretty those puffy clouds look. Our view from our living room will be about 3 ft higher than the spot they are leveling off so we should be able to see quite a lot of river and the football fields below the ridge.

Dig It!

So we have finalized our construction loan, ordered our house plans, filed our building permits and in TWO days our builder is going to start building our gravel road and digging our house footprint. I will definitely be up there sometime Monday to take photos for the blog. Right now we have 3 mounds of gravel and a ton of weeds on our lot. Once our permits are approved he can start foundation and framing. So, the new home countdown begins in 2 days. :)
